为了解决Office 2007新格式不兼容早期Office 2000、Office XP、Office 2003等版本的问题，微软推出了文件格式兼容包，安装后，早期版本的office软件就能够对这些新格式文件进行打开、编辑和保存文档等一系列操作。
近日，微软推出了文件格式兼容包第3版，支持的操作系统版本有：Windows 2000 SP4、Windows Server 2003、Windows Vista、Windows XP SP1、Windows XP SP2等。
支持的Office组件有：Word 2000 SP3、Excel 2000 SP3、PowerPoint 2000 SP3、Word 2002 SP3、Excel 2002 SP3、PowerPoint 2002 SP3、Office Word 2003 SP1或更高版本、Excel 2003 SP1或更高版本、PowerPoint 2003 SP1或更高版本、Word Viewer 2003、Excel Viewer 2003、PowerPoint Viewer 2003等。
